Flood risk is now foremost in planning designs. Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems or SUDS consider the use of materials which alleviate this threat. Part of this structure is Permeable Paving and its inclusion within a SUDS solution will enhance the chances of a positive planning outcome. From an environmental viewpoint flooding is reduced, water quality can improve and pollution reduced, from the developer viewpoint costs can be reduced through material savings, planning guidelines are met and reduced fear of insurance claims in the long term. Not all designs require the highest specification of materials, depending on size, traffic and soil quality there are various specifications available. Barleystone’s Technical Department can advise on which SUDS system suits any project and can supply the Engineers Report where required.

Barleystone Permeable Paving There are three different CBPP systems: 1. Full Infiltration - suitable for ground with good permeability 2. Partial Infiltration - where existing ground may not absorb all water 3. No Infiltration - where existing ground is poor or polluted Barleystone can offer a complete system which includes Barleystone Permeable Paving and fully certified sub-base material.
